Synopsis
Games fit well with education, because classroom games can increase student engagement and learning. Furthermore, students can play the same games at home with their families, to promote bonding and tend learning time. However, most games are set up as competitive, despite the problems that competition can cause. This three hour workshop explains the benefits of cooperative games and demonstrates ways to make games cooperative. Several cooperative games to promote reading are explained by the workshop leader and practiced by the workshop participants. Participants are invited to share other reading games and to discuss how to make them cooperative.
